Explaining Red
Read each screen aloud and let the class choose by pointing or by hands. Three beats, three warm endings, and no wrong paths. Teacher notes wait at the end.
Beat 1 · A New Friend

This one is for reading aloud. Take it slow, and let the little hands go up.
Beat 1 · A New Friend
Your class has a new friend. Her name is Noor, and she knows more jokes than anyone in the room. Noor was born blind. She has never seen anything—not colors, not shadows, not even the dark.
Today the class painted fire trucks, and the paint was red, red, red. At carpet time, Sami looks at the drying pictures and asks the question out loud: “How do we tell Noor about red?”
Everyone looks at you. But this is not a question for the teacher to answer. This one belongs to the class. Where should they start?
What do you do?
